Under 11 Match Report

From our Barton based correspondent:

U11 vs Barnard Castle cup game - away at Barnard Castle

Barnard Castle won the toss and elected to bat.  Yet again our bowling and fielding proved to be our strong point with excellent bowling from everyone and fantastic wicket keeping from Tom Wooff.  The first two bowlers - Max Percival & Tom Van Niekirk - only going for 10 runs. Will Shaeffer & Owen Wetherill kept the score low too with Owen getting the first wicket of the day, 2-0-7-1.  The next four overs saw two more wickets fall - a fantastic run out and a catch by Tom Van Niekirk. More wickets fell in the next three overs, Andrew Ralph and Jake Percival both having figures 3-1-7-1.  Leaving Barnard Castle restricted to 266 for 6 (236 net).

Jake & Tom Van Niekirk opened the batting and quickly knocked up a score of 241-0, Jake hitting three 4's to finish on top score of 16.  Jack Van Niekirk and Owen Wetherill kept the score ticking over to finish 253-1 at the end of their four overs.  Next came Andrew Ralph and Will Shaeffer, both played defensively only losing 1 wicket in their overs.  Freddie and Max Dale worked hard to keep the runs coming with Max hitting a fantastic 4, unfortunately for them they faced Barnard Castle's best bowlers and conceded 3 wickets.  The final pair of Tom Wooff and Max Percival continued to work well together, Max hitting a 4 and Tom managing to get dropped THREE times during his innings!
Richmondshire finishing on 294-6 (264 net), winning by 28 runs.

Yet again, a fantastic team effort from everyone.  Well done!  Many thanks to Louise Wooff who arranged the game in Darren's absence and Jim for coming along to umpire.
